Kadyrov’s action results in demographic phenomenon

Ramzan Kadyrov instructed the republic’s authorities to pay 500,000 roubles to parents of each boy born on December 31 and named in honour of national heroes. At the same time, it turned out that on the day of the action, four times more boys were unexpectedly born in the republic than on other days.

According to the information announced by the leader of Chechnya, 222 children were born in the republic on December 31, of which 180 were boys. “All 180 were named in honour of the heroes of the republic,” Ramzan Kadyrov wrote.

The Chechen leader specified that 79 children were named Baysangur, 53 children were given the name of Sheikh-Mansur, 23 children were named Akhmat (Akhmad), 10 children – Mukhammad-Bashir, five children – Zelimkhan, and one child each was named Bersa, Bersa-Sheikh, Ilyas, Magomed, Mansur, Musa, Muslim, Mukhammad, Shoip, and Eriskhan.

Analysts note that the figure of Sheikh Mansur is very significant for Chechens. At the same time, on December 19, 2024, it became known that Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov removed the mention of Sheikh Mansur and Baysangur Benoevsky from a post on his Telegram channel, which talked about the heroes of the Chechen people.

“I am grateful to everyone who gave their children the names of our national heroes. This is a very important step that not only reflects respect for history and the exploits of our ancestors, but also sets an important example for future generations,” Ramzan Kadyrov stated in his post.

According to the information released by the “Chechenstat” agency, on average, 86 children were born in the republic per day during the 10 months of 2024, an average of 42 girls and 44 boys. So, on the day of the action announced by Ramzan Kadyrov, almost three times more children were born in Chechnya.

In general, according to “Chechenstat” agency’s information, among children under four years of age, the proportion of boys is 51.5% in the republic. On the day of the action announced by Ramzan Kadyrov, the proportion of boys sharply increased to 81%. All the unusual increase took place due to the boys, of whom there were unexpectedly more than four times more births than on an ordinary day.
