Contract soldier's complaint about absence of medical treatment in Chechnya attracts investigators' attention

Investigators and prosecutors have questioned the military, who had complained that he was discharged from a hospital in Chechnya, although he failed to receive the proper treatment. According to lawyers, doctors had violated his rights.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 9, Ruslan Arazov, a serviceman, posted a video appeal to President Vladimir Putin and Andrei Belousov, the Russian Defence Minister. He reported that he was wounded and broke his leg in the special military operation (SMO) zone in Ukraine and was taken to a hospital in Chechnya, where for seven days "he received no treatment." After the appeal was posted, Ruslan was invited to the local branch of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

There, Arazov has noted that he was discharged from the hospital on January 3, and now he walks on crutches. He stated that he was annoyed by the attitude towards wounded soldiers.

If a wounded soldier is dissatisfied with the treatment, he should submit an application to the hospital's chief physician with a request to continue the treatment, Artyom Mugunyants, a lawyer, has suggested.

"The soldier's rights to receive medical care have been violated; and the hospital doctors have been negligent, because the wounded man is in pain, he has shrapnel fragments in his body; he can't walk, but he is being discharged from hospital," the lawyer has noted.
