Elena Patyaeva, Seda Suleimanova’s friend, left in police custody until trial
Elena Patyaeva, who was detained by law enforcers in Saint Petersburg during her solo picket demanding an inquiry into the disappearance of her friend, Seda Suleimanova, in Chechnya, has been left at the police station until the court hearing. This was reported by the human rights project "OVD-Info"*.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at her picket held on January 29, Patyaeva stated that within 10 months the investigation into the disappearance of Seda Suleimanova had yielded no results. Elena was detained by law enforcers under the pretext of violating some anti-Covid restrictions; however, later became known that she was charged with organizing an unsanctioned public event.
In April 2024, it became known that the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) was investigating Suleimanova's disappearance under the murder article. Last June, Patyaeva stated that within the three months since the case was opened, investigators had failed to come to any conclusions.
