SMO fighter from Kuban sentenced leniently for beating a person
A court in Novorossiysk has sentenced Vyacheslav Lyutov, a military serviceman, to two years of conditional imprisonment (probation) for causing moderate bodily harm, treating his participation in the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine as a mitigating circumstance.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that courts in Southern Russia used to repeatedly hand down lenient sentences to military servicemen, treating their participation in the SMO as a mitigating circumstance. In particular, on August 10, 2024, it became known that a court in Yessentuki had sentenced Sergey Chudentsov, a local resident, to three years of probation for causing grave bodily harm.
According to the case materials, Vyacheslav Lyutov and his friend Mshir Mstoyan, a local resident, arrived in a car to visit their acquaintance, and he hit the car hood. After that, Lyutov and Mstoyan beat him up. According to investigators, Mstoyan beat the man with a baseball bat, and Lyutov punched him with his fists, the website of the Novorossiysk Garrison Military Court has informed.
The court found Lyutov guilty and sentenced him to two years of probation, treating his participation in the SMO as a mitigating circumstance. Mshir Mstoyan was sentenced to three years of probation.
