Kadyrov boasts about number of law enforcers
There are more than 36,000 people serving as law enforcers in Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of the region, has stated.
In June 2023, Kadyrov reported that the 42nd Division from Chechnya is in the special military operation (SMO) zone in the Zaporozhye direction. The staff thereof was 6000 Chechen servicemen.
"Thanks to the principled position of ... Akhmat-Khadji Kadyrov, by 2003, 4800 employees from the Chechen Republic served in our power structures. From the very beginning, he insisted that the fight against terrorism should be conducted by residents of the region. As a result, the staff of law enforcement bodies has steadily increased; and as of February 1, 2025, the staff of employees is 36,243 people," the “Chechnya Today” News Agency quotes Kadyrov as saying.
"And the population of Chechnya, if we believe the authorities, is just over 1,550,000 people. There are too many law enforcers for such a population, if you think about it," the commentator for the "Caucasian Knot" doyle.vonrueden has noted,
Thus, Chechnya has one law enforcer for every 43 local residents.
In November 2023, Kadyrov announced that the formation of three units of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) had been completed in Chechnya – the “Akhmat-Russia” and “Akhmat-Chechnya” regiments and the “Sheikh Mansur” battalion. A battalion of the “Rosgvardiya” (Russian National Guard) named after Baisangur Benoevsky was also formed.
