Ban on entry into Russia for Azerbaijani MP Azer Badamov highlights his conflict with Nikolai Valuev
The decision of the Russian authorities to deport Azer Badamov, a member of the Azerbaijani parliament, has been made after his harsh statements addressed to Russian State Duma member Nikolai Valuev.
Azer Badamov is a member of the Azerbaijani parliament from the ruling “Yeni Azerbaijan” (New Azerbaijan) Party. He is the deputy chair of the committee on economic policy, industry and entrepreneurship, a member of the committee on agrarian policy, a member of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly and the Interparliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the Milli Majlis (the parliament of Azerbaijan) and the Federal Assembly of Russia, the official website of the Azerbaijani parliament states.
The decision of the Russian authorities may be related to the harsh statements made by MP Azer Badamov with regard to Russian State Duma member Nikolai Valuev, the Azerbaijani “APA” news agency has immediately suggested.
Earlier, Azer Badamov harshly responded to a Nikolai Valuev’s post about natives of Azerbaijan. When commenting on the news about the closure of the “Russian House” in Baku on his Telegram channel, Nikolai Valuev used an expression of “shobla-obla” (gang) in relation to Azerbaijanis. Nikolai Valuev has also called for an investigation into the activities of the Azerbaijani diasporas in Russia. “Let’s calmly, with an understanding of political and power support within our Russian state, without swearing and shouting, pass this whole ‘shobla-obla’ through the sieve of the law,” the Russian State Duma member stated then in his comment.
In response, Azer Badamov wrote several rather harsh statements about Nikolai Valuev on his Facebook* page. “If you try to artistically depict an average member of a ‘shobla,’ then the best portrait for such a member would be Nikolai Valuev. [...],” in particular, the Azerbaijani MP’s post stated. Azer Badamov also called Nikolai Valuev “a rare exhibit of a dead-end branch of evolution, stuck in the development somewhere between Neanderthal and Homo sapiens.”
