After reports on conducted searches, head of Buinaksk District decides to go to frontline
Shortly after unofficial sources reported a search conducted in his home, Ullubij Khanmurzaev announced the conclusion of a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the expected dispatch to the special military operation (SMO) zone in Ukraine.
Khanmurzaev informed about his decision to conclude a contract with the MoD in the evening on May 5 in his official Telegram channel. According to his story, he intends to “go to the SMO zone” and “fulfil the mission set forth by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.”
He has assured that this was “not a spontaneous impulse,” but presented his departure to the frontline as his long-time dream. “The contract conclusion was delayed due to the birth of my fourth child,” Khanmurzaev wrote in his message detailing his entire service and work biography.
His announcement of a contract signed with the MoD was preceded by unconfirmed reports of law enforcement bodies’ claims against him. On April 17, the Telegram channel entitled “Ask Rasul” reported, citing its own sources, that searches had been conducted at Khanmurzaev’s home as part of a certain opened criminal case. On April 28, this channel reported that Khanmurzaev had not shown up for work for two weeks after the searches, suggesting that “Sergey Melikov will probably have to look for a new head of the Buinaksk District.”
Official sources have not officially commented on the reports about searches of Khanmurzaev’s home and his long absence from work.
