Abkhazian specialists recorded excess of oil products in the sea

Monitoring of the sea water condition near the coast in Abkhazia showed that the content of oil products was exceeded.

As "Caucasian Knot" wrote, information about the pollution of the Black Sea resorts of Kuban with oil products is extremely scarce, the authorities are reluctant to share the results of the studies and thereby violate the rights of citizens, environmentalists said.

A study of sea water samples taken in Abkhazia showed that the content of oil products was exceeded, climatologist Asida reported Akhsalba.

"The laboratories of the Abkhaz State Center for Environmental Monitoring are monitoring this situation. But due to the lack of funding, daily analyses are not carried out, of course. They are carried out on an urgent basis on a monthly basis. And today, according to the data that chemical analysts receive, we can state the fact that there is a slight excess. But this is the MAC specifically for fishery purposes, not for drinking or, accordingly, for household purposes. According to Akhsalba, Abkhaz specialists do not have the ability to monitor the state of deep waters, so it is difficult to say how much fuel oil may be there.

She emphasized that a slight excess of the norm of oil products content near the coast in Abkhazia is not dangerous for humans, but affects marine life. Recall that Rospotrebnadzor recognized 141 beaches in Anapa and nine beaches in the Temryuk district as unsuitable for recreation. Signs with information about the ban on swimming have been installed there, announcements about this are also displayed on video screens in different areas of Anapa. Representatives of the authorities patrol the coastal areas and ask vacationers not to visit these places. Beach cleaning with the help of equipment is expected to last until July 10-15, the regional authorities announced on June 20.

The head of the Ministry of Natural Resources previously stated that the beaches of Anapa and the Temryuk district are planned to be restored after fuel oil pollution by the summer season of 2026. For several years, fuel oil emissions will be on the beaches, environmentalists disagreed.
