The case of Dagestan blogger Arslan Mirzaev has reached court

The case of blogger from Dagestan Arslan Mirzaev, accused of spreading fakes about the Russian army and justifying terrorism, has been sent to the military court in Rostov-on-Don.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" wrote, a criminal case against blogger from Dagestan Arslan Mirzaev for spreading fakes and discrediting the armed forces of the Russian Federation was initiated at the end of 2022. According to the blogger himself, who lives in Ukraine, the case was opened because of publications criticizing the policies of the Russian authorities.

A criminal case against blogger Arslan Mirzaev (Ali Charinsky) has been sent to the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don; the indictment was approved by the Dagestan prosecutor's office, Kommersant writes today.

The case will be tried in absentia, since Mirzaev is outside of Russia.

According to investigators, the blogger published materials on the Internet that contained deliberately false information about the actions of the Russian army on the territory of Ukraine. In addition, he published materials with statements about "recognizing the ideology and practice of terrorism as correct." He was charged under Part 1 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (dissemination of knowingly false information about the actions of the Russian army) and Part 2 of Article 205.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (justification and propaganda of terrorism).
