Ukrainian soldier sentenced in Rostov-on-Don

The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Ukrainian serviceman Yaroslav Chernyak to 13 years in prison, finding him guilty of participating in a terrorist organization.

The sentence for a member of one of the Ukrainian nationalist battalions, Yaroslav Chernyak, was handed down by the Southern District Military Court on August 5, he was found guilty of working for a terrorist organization.

According to the investigation, Ukrainian citizen Yaroslav Chernyak joined the ranks of a terrorist organization in 2024, he was stationed in the city of Druzhkovka, Konstantinovsky district, was a medic-shooter. Until November of that year, Chernyak took direct part in military operations, Kommersant wrote on August 5.

Chernyak was charged under Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization of the activities of a terrorist organization and participation in the activities of this organization). He was found guilty and sentenced to 13 years in prison. He will spend the first three years in prison, and the rest of his term in a maximum security penal colony.
