Armenians from Georgia are indignant at Georgian deputy's provocative statements
The Armenian community of Tbilisi performed an open letter in which it expressed "deep resentment towards statements of the member of Georgian parliament, the representative of the "Vozrozhdeniye" ("Revival") faction Sandro Bregadze. In his interview to one of Georgian TV channels Bregadze spoke "about false programs of the US Armenian lobby directed to accomplish an upheaval so that local Armenians could come to power in the country". The resentment of the Armenian community was also caused by Bregadze's demand not to allow Armenians living of the territory of Georgia to participate in a Georgian presidential election. "Let us note that the Armenian community, whatever country of the world it lives in, always assisted and assists its state system. Starting from it, the statement of the "Vozrozhdeniye" representative seems to be, at least, improbable", the letter says. It is also underlined in the letter that Armenian citizens of Georgia are a part of the society and the state of Georgia - with all constitutional rights and responsibilities coming from it. The authors of the letter expressed hope that theme in question would no longer be the object of election political discussions.
