Results of the action "I did not vote!" in Ingushetia are still unknown

The outcomes of the action "I did not vote!", held in Ingushetia by the initiative group as an act of disagreement with the official results of elections to State Duma on December 2, 2007, have not been delivered to the court.

The fate of more than 87,000 applications signed by the residents of Ingushetia who allegedly did not take part in the Duma elections on December 2, 2007, which were reported as of January 9, 2008, by the Internet portal "Ingushetia.Ru", still remains unknown.

Attempts of the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent to get any comments at the editorial board of the "Ingushetia.Ru", which was engaged in a sort of information support of the action, were unsuccessful. Ii has also proved impossible to contact Magomed Evloev, direct initiator and organizer of the action, former owner of the website.

Making comments on the situation around the action, a representative of one of local human rights organizations has noted that it had been initially doomed to a failure.

"I think it irresponsible that the organizers were so slow in defining the fate of the collected signatures. <...> In his interview to the "Echo of Moskvy" Radio M. Evloev once said that the population does not want to cancel the outcomes of their of voting in Ingushetia, because in this case Ingushetia can lose its representative in the State Duma," the human rights activist told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"Besides, one should have no illusions that the authorities would like to revise the outcomes of the elections, even within the small Ingushetia. The law has fixed the procedure of challenging the elections, and as much as I know, the term of appeal has already expired."
