Bekhbudov: 63 persons were tortured in 2007 in Azerbaijan

Human rights activist Elchin Bekhbudov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that in 2007 63 persons were subjected to tortures in Azerbaijan, and four of them died.

Mr Bekhbudov has noted the country needs a working group against tortures to be set up to address the problem of tortures.

"The working group should include experts from the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of National Security, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Public Health and the General Prosecutor's Office. Human rights activist should also be presented in the group," Elchin Bekhbudov said.

He added that he had sent a petition to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliev.
