Armenian oppositionists suspend their hunger strike

In response to the request of Levon Ter-Petrosyan, the first president of Armenia and leader of the opposition, the arrested oppositionists stopped their hunger strike on April 11.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent learnt about it at the election office of Levon Ter-Petrosyan.

Let us note here that starting from March 25 about 30 persons have announced their hunger strikes. On April 10, 23 activists of the opposition kept their protest action at different penitentiary establishments of Yerevan. Now, the hunger-strikers have suspended their protest action, but they promise to resume it in a couple of days if their demands are ignored.

Their main demands are as follows: to stop criminal prosecution and immediately release all political prisoners, and to conduct an independent and unbiased international investigation of the events of March 1.
