In Armenia, head of Levon Ter-Petrosyan's election office arrested

Today, the Service of National Security of Armenia has arrested Alexander Arzumanyan, head of the election office of Levon Ter-Petrosyan and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Ararat Zurabyan, one of the members of the election office and chairman of the Armenian All-National Movement. This was told to the source of the "Caucasian Knot" by Armand Musinyan, press secretary of Ter-Petrosyan's election office.

According to his story, the details of the arrest and the essence of charges are still unknown.

Let us note here that Mr Ter-Petrosyan himself has emphasized in his speeches that the all-national movement headed by him relies, first of all, on three political forces: the People's Party of Armenia led by Stepan Demirchyan, the "Republic" Party chaired by ex-prime minister Aram Sarkisyan, and the Armenian All-National Movement headed by Ararat Zurabyan.

According to the chairman of the Helsinki Association Mikael Danielyan, so far, 85 persons remain arrested on charges of organization and participation in mass disorders, and arrests of oppositional activists continue.

The official authorities report about 59 detainees.
