Shamba claims the Galski district of Abkhazia is not going to be the zone under international monitoring

Sergei Shamba, Minister of Foreign Affairs in Abkhazia, calls the statement of Temur Mzhaviya, head of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, on the necessity to declare the Galski district of Abkhazia which borders Georgia a zone under international monitoring as a "hollow and populist slogan".

"This is intended for the internal electorate, the refugees who still believe such slogans. Such persons as Temur Mzhaviya only exist because they pull refugees' leg. As soon as these people stop believing them, the so-called "autonomy supporters" will exhaust all their resources", stated the Abkhazia MoFA to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The Abkhazia MoFA stressed that in no way the Galski district can become a zone under international monitoring. "The Galski district is a district of Abkhazia which is exactly the same as the other six ones", stated Sergei Shamba.

The pro-Georgian government of Abkhazia in exile calls on the international community to declare the Galski district a zone under international monitoring after the explosion which resulted in the death of one resident.

In his statement which was broadcast by the Georgian TV company "Rustavi-2", Mzhaviya noted that, under the existing conditions, it is impossible to exert a positive impact on the situation and the international community and the Georgian leadership must undertake maximum efforts in order to declare the Galski district the zone under international monitoring ".
