Sappers in Chechnya cut off gas supply from the village of Bamut
Soldiers of Federal armed forces have exploded a landmine they found in the village of Bamut, Achkhoy-Martan district, Chechnya. The explosion has resulted in damaging the gas pipeline, reports an employee of the republic's Ministry of Emergencies to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"Yesterday afternoon, August 6, soldiers of the Russian MoD sappers' unit found a powerful home-made explosive device planted near the building of the former school in Tsentralnaya Street of the village of Bamut, Achkhoy-Martan district. The soldiers destroyed the landmine by exploding it, damaging a nearby 100 mm gas pipeline thereby. The gas supply to Bamut had to be immediately cut off ", said the interlocutor.
Gasmen started repair works on the gas pipeline today morning.
"The actions of the sappers in this situation may be considered not only as irresponsible but also criminal," states the interlocutor. "Instead of taking all the necessary measures for deactivating the self-made mine in the center of a settlement they simply exploded it. Is it sensible"?
It should be noted that there have been numerous cases in Chechnya when sappers exploded ammunition and explosion hazard devices with no regard to the possible consequences.
