Volgograd gathers humanitarian help for South Ossetian refugees

On August 10, all the districts of Volgograd opened points for gathering humanitarian help intended for peaceful residents of South Ossetia. Already in the next few days, Volgograd plans to send medicines for the victims in the South-Ossetian conflict zone.

"The administration of Volgograd is ready to provide any required help to residents of Tskhinvali, first of all, medical aid, since the count of victims is in thousands, and the lives and health of women, old men and children is on the agenda," the Mayoralty's press service gave its comments. "Already today, the city department of public health has coordinated the list of drugs and medicines needed by patients with the operative headquarters in Vladikavkaz."

The Mayoralty has reported that, according to an operative headquarters in Vladikavkaz, today they need warm clothes, tents, sleeping bags, blankets and personal hygiene items. According to the press service of Volgograd administration, a number of trading companies and enterprises of the city have expressed their readiness to donate the necessary goods and foodstuffs to residents of South Ossetia.

Tomorrow, on August 12, Volgograd will launch a centre for gathering donor blood for warfare victims in South Ossetia. It is also expected that tomorrow the operative headquarters in North Ossetia will start forming groups of refugees and victims for sending them to Volgograd early next week.
