Armenian Ombudsman asks prosecutors to give details on the instruction of Special Investigatory Service

Andranik Mirzoyan, head of the Special Investigatory Service of the Republic of Armenia, has answered the letter of Ombudsman Armen Arutyunyan with a number of questions related to the investigatory assignment sent on March 5 to the Prosecutor's Office of the Vaiots Dzor Region (Marz).

Andranik Mirzoyan has informed the Ombudsman that according to Article 191 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the above investigatory assignment was sent not only to Marz Vaiots Dzor, but also to Public Prosecutors of Marzes Gegarkunik and Aragatsotn. Mr Mirzoyan has submitted copies of these investigatory assignments to the Ombudsman's office.

On his own initiative, Ombudsman Armen Arutyunyan started his own examination of legal consequences of the actions, undertaken by A. Mirzoyan and Public Prosecutor of Marz Vaiots Oganes Palyan, according to the investigatory assignment of March 5.

Today, within his examination, the Ombudsman has addressed Public Prosecutors of Marzes Gegarkunik and Aragatsotn with a request to provide data on the investigatory actions undertaken by them in execution of the investigatory assignment issued by the head of the Special Investigatory Service on March 5.
