Armenian opposition announces more resolute and vigorous actions

Armand Musinyan, press secretary of the National Movement Centre, told journalists today that starting from August 1 (the day of the appointed rally), the actions of the opposition will become more resolute and vigorous. He has emphasized that the activity of the opposition will also be caused by the intra-organizational issues, the authorities' actions will get tougher assessment.

According to Mr Musinyan, in spite of the fact that Yerevan Mayoralty did not sanction the rally, it will take place in the territory adjoining Matenadaran (Institute of Ancient Manuscripts named after Mesrop Mashtots).

Musinyan thinks that the public will not only persist in its active struggle, but will also strengthen their further pressure on the authorities, "forcing them to make political decisions."

Such political decisions, as the representative of National Movement assumes, first of all, should be extraordinary elections, since, as he said, "there is no other way out of the current crisis." He excludes any dialogue with the authorities until all political prisoners are released.

Mr Musinyan has also informed that during the sign-in, initiated by the public and supported by the opposition, on transfer of former president of the country Robert Kocharyan to The Hague Tribunal; over 100,000 signatures have been raised already.

During his press conference Mr Musinyan has also noted that in the information widespread by the press service of the president that the PACE Chairman called the opposition to recognize the election totals, the words of Lluis Maria de Puig were distorted. "Even in PACE resolutions there is no appeal to recognize the election outcomes," he has noted.
