Azerbaijani Public Prosecutor reports detention of suspects of terror act in "Abu-Bekr" Mosque

The Public Prosecutor of Azerbaijan has reported detention of the members of the terrorist organization named "Forest Brothers", accused of committing the terror act in "Abu-Bekr" Mosque.

"Currently, we have detained and arrested 25 members from the grouping 'Forest Brothers', among whom - a direct performer of the terror act in the Mosque Elnur Bakshiev from the city of Sumgait," said Public Prosecutor Zakir Garalov, as quoted by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"In the course of the operation, we detained and made responsible 13 persons; we revealed and confiscated plenty fire-arms and ammunition to them, explosive devices and circuits, instructions, special communication means, various maps, manuals on fighting tactics in mountain and woods, military accessories, etc. One of the leaders of the grouping Ilgar Mollachiev was killed by Russian law enforcement bodies," runs the statement.

As to the renewal of the work of the "Abu-Bekr" Mosque, the Public Prosecutor said that neither the Prosecutor's Office nor law enforcement bodies are in charge of the issue. As he said, the imam of the Mosque should address the State Committee for Religious Communities.
