Zurabyan: Armenian special agents tap oppositionists' phones for a year
Levon Zurabyan, coordinator of the Armenian National Congress (ANC), told journalists that telephones of the members of Levon Ter-Petrosyan's team have been secretly tapped since last September till today.
Mr Zurabyan is sure that his phone is also tapped.
"In fact, the Service of National Security, which is called to protect the country from external threats, has actually mobilized all its efforts to neutralize the opposition," Levon Zurabyan has stated.
On September 9, the ANC, which unites 16 opposition parties, made the statement, which strongly criticizes publication in the press of secretly tapped telephone conversations of the members of Ter-Petrosyan's pre-election office.
The authors of the statement mark that records are published, which refer to private life of political prisoners; the tapped telephone conversations have undergone preliminary editing; they have nothing to do with reality and aimed at discrediting the oppositionists.
