Bridge between Georgia and South Ossetia blown up

The bridge across the Tirifoni River located in the Georgian-South-Ossetian border and connecting the Ossetian village of Zemo Artsevi with the Georgian village of Kveshi was blown up today. There were no casualties.

Let us note here that the railway bridge between the Zugdidi and Gali Districts in the vicinity of Shamgona village was blown up on October 24. The Georgian party has accused Abkhazia and Russia of the explosion, while the Abkhazian one denies any involvement in the incident.

No official explanation of what happened in the Georgian-South-Ossetian border has appeared yet.

The "Georgia Online" reports, with reference to local population, that the bridge was blown up by Ossetians with the aim not to admit the EU observation mission to the territory of South Ossetia.

The IA "News-Georgia" reports that Lado Vardzelashvili, representative of Georgian President in the Shida Kartli District, has also treated the explosion of the bridge to be a terror act accomplished with the aim not to prevent the EU observers from getting to the territory of South Ossetia.

Employees of South-Ossetian MIA have launched investigation of the incident, runs the website of the Committee for Information and Press.

In the evening on October 18, unidentified armed persons blew up the automobile bridge across the Adzura River located in the vicinity of the Georgian city of Gori. Georgia has accused Ossetian raiders of the explosion.
