Advocate of Politkovskaya's family demands to interrogate President of Chechnya

The advocate who acts in the interests of the family of Anna Politkovskaya, observer of the "Novaya Gazeta" newspaper, in her murder case is trying to attract President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov as a witness.

We remind you that the trial has started today by the Moscow District Military Court. Today, it has also become known that the trial will be held in the open regime.

Advocate Karina Moskalenko, who is representing the interests of Politkovskaya's family, has explained the need to have Kadyrov's evidences by the fact that the name of the President of Chechnya "is repeatedly mentioned in the materials of the case and evidences of the witnesses," the RIA "Novosti" reports.

"The main drawback of the investigation is that it failed to establish the persons, who had ordered the murder, and those, who had financed this crime," the "Interfax" quotes Ms Moskalenko as saying. In her opinion, "the consideration of the case, where we have no executor and no customer, can lead to negative results." "The investigatory bodies could have continued the investigation of the case, instead of sending it to the trial without its main figurants," said the lawyer.

Whether the President of Chechnya will be summoned for interrogation, it is unclear yet.
