Georgian Security Council convoked on emergency

Today, President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili has convoked an emergency sitting of the National Security Council in the context of the armed incident in the Tsalendzhikh District in the West of Georgia where Giya Meboniya, head of the local administration, was lost.

Today, Muzhava village, Tsalendzhikh District of Georgia, was shelled. The Georgian party has accused Abkhazia of this attack. In his turn, Laurens Kogoniya, militia head of the Gali District in Abkhazia, has stated that Abkhazia has nothing to do with it.

The IA "News-Georgia" reports that the sitting of the Security Council of Georgia is closed for the media; official comments will follow later.

The IA Regnum adds that ahead of the sitting Kakha Lomaya, Secretary of the Security Council, has stated that Georgia "wants to take diplomatic steps in the context of the actions of separatists and Russian aggressors."

Also on October 24, the railway bridge was blown up, which connected the Georgian Zugdidi District and the Abkhazian Gali District. The Georgian party accused Abkhazians and Russians of doing it, while the Abkhazian counterpart rejected, just like today, any involvement in the incident.
