Guys with cudgels attack the march in memory of Markelov and Baburova
An unauthorized march of anarchists in Novosibirsk in memory of advocate Stanislav Markelov and journalists Anastasiya Baburova assassinated in Moscow ended in a fight.
A correspondent of the "Interfax" Agency reports from the venue that a group of young people with black-red banners marched along the central street of Novosibirsk - the Krasny Avenue, crying out the following slogans: "Stas should live" and "Nastya should live".
Unexpectedly, in the course of the march, a group of young men armed with wooden cudgels jumped out from a perpendicular street and attacked the marchers; a fight burst out. One of the anarchists has suffered pretty seriously - his face was smashed.
In the course of the march and fight, no militiamen were seen nearby.
Meanwhile, as the edition named "Argumenty i Facty" reports that it is not excluded that skinheads committed the murder of Markelov and Baburova. The edition reminds that advocate Markelov many times represented the interests of the families of killed anti-fascists at trials and defended the members of this movement.
When Markelov undertook to defend the Kungaev family, national-socialist websites "recommended" him "not to bark at Russian colonel Budanov." And after a while Markelov was severely beaten by skinheads.
After Stanislav Markelov achieved conviction of three participants of an attack on anti-fascist Alexander Ryukhin killed in Moscow on April 16, 2006, a Nazi website published a threat that Markelov would be "the next one after Nikolai Girenko."
In the context of these murders, the "Novaya Gazeta" plans to address in FSB with a request to give out fire-arms to the journalists of the edition.
According to Alexander Lebedev, co-owner of the edition, journalists have to ask about it since law enforcement bodies cannot ensure their safety. He has noted that the "Novaya Gazeta" had already once sent a similar letter to the FSB.
The newspaper reminds that Baburova is the fourth assassinated correspondent of the "Novaya Gazeta". The previous criminals' casualties were Domnikov, Schekochikhin and Anna Politkovskaya.
