Prosecutor's Office gives no data about resident of Dagestan Zagirov kidnapped by power agents

The Prosecutor's Office refused to provide any data to human rights activists about Yusup Zagirov, who was kidnapped in Dagestan on April 5 by unidentified power agents. On April 8 the Human Rights Centre "Memorial" was informed about this kidnapping by Yusup's brother Omar Zagirov.

On April 7, Omar filed an application to the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic Dagestan, and on April 8, following the advice of Gyulnara Rustamova, chair of the organization "Mothers of Dagestan for Human Rights", he addressed the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial".

On April 9, the HRC "Memorial" sent an inquiry about this case to the General Public Prosecutor of the Russian Federation Yu. Ya. Chaika and the Public Prosecutor of the Republic of Dagestan I. V. Tkachov.

On April 10, Russian Ombudsman V. P. Lukin had a telephone conversation with the Public Prosecutor of the Republic of Dagestan, who promised to study the situation till the evening and give feedback. However, until April 14 there was no data about Yusup Zagirov's whereabouts, and the Prosecutor's Office failed to explain why he had been detained, as the HRC "Memorial" has reported.
