Editor of newspaper "Corruption and Crime" beaten in Rostov

Today, in the city of Rostov-on-Don, unidentified persons attacked Vyacheslav Yaroshenko, editor-in-chief of the local newspaper "Corruption and Crime". In a grave condition with a skull trauma, the journalist was hospitalized.

According to Sergey Sleptsov, a correspondent of Radio Liberty, the attacker was hiding in the doorway of the house, where Yaroshenko lives, when the latter was coming home from his work. The culprit struck the journalist in his temple and ran away.

According to Mr Sleptsov, there are no doubts that the attack has to do with professional activity of the journalist and is a revenge for his publications in the "Corruption and Crime" newspaper.

"I have some suspicions as to the organizers of the attempt, but I'll refrain from giving names yet," said the correspondent. "Some time ago we did the "Corruption" together and once a similar attack was made on me either."

At present, Vyacheslav Yaroshenko after a surgery is in resuscitation ward without consciousness. The doctors who monitor his condition say that the forecast is unfavourable, as the Radio Liberty reports.

At the same time, as the "Gazeta.Ru" writes, the Rostov UVD (City Interior Department) knows nothing about the attack on the journalist. According to Sergey Sleptsov, the militia refused to register the attack on Yaroshenko, which is indicative, as the "Kasparov.ru" remarks.
