Azerbaijan stops Russian TV channels

The National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting (NCTRB) of Azerbaijan made a decision at its sitting on Thursday made a decision to stop broadcasting of Russian channels "Pervy" (First) and "Rossiya" (Russia) in the Republic's national frequencies, and of two Turkish ones - "STV" ("Samanyolu") and "D."

They informed the "Interfax" at the NCTRB that the Turkish "D" Channel will be stopped from January 3, 2007, and the Russian channels and "STV" ("Samanyolu") - from July 1 next year.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported earlier that the agreements on stopping broadcasting in Azerbaijan of Russian channels RTR, "Planeta," and "Channel 1," and Turkish channels "Samanyolu" and "D" might be still reconsidered.
