Meeting in defence of officers accused of murdering peaceful people in Chechnya dispersed in Moscow

Yesterday, on January 10, Special Militia ("OMON") fighters dispersed a meeting held in the centre of Moscow near the Ministry of Defence of Russia in defence of Evgeniy Khudiakov and Sergey Arakcheev, interior officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, accused of murdering peaceful residents of Chechnya.

According to different sources, from 20 to 100 persons took part in the action. Some of them held posters "No to Shariat laws," "Prosecutor's office, stop performing Ramzan's whims," "Freedom to lieutenant Arakcheev," and others of the sort.

After the start of the meeting, one of militiamen announced through a megaphone that the action was unsanctioned and demanded to roll up the posters. The demonstrators refused to obey, then, militiamen lined in a chain, and asking the protesters to disperse edged them to the Metro station. Several persons were detained.
