Nagorny Karabakh gets ready to elect president

The "Artsakh" Democratic Party that has a majority in the Parliament of Nagorny Karabakh has started consultations on nominating or supporting a candidate to the position of the president, the correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot" reports.

According to the law, nomination of candidates should start in the middle of April. However, until now nobody has declared his or her self-nomination or support of this or that candidate. Active public debates have started in Karabakh. Political forces appeal "to ignore" Armenia when selecting the candidates and to be guided by local interests only.

The most probable candidate to the position of the leader of Nagorny Karabakh is Bako Saakyan, head of the Security Service, who was indirectly supported by the "Free Homeland" and "Moral Revival" Parties.
