Ter-Petrosyan's Office: Armenian CEC made unprecedented violations of the law

The Election Office of Levon Ter-Petrosyan has addressed the Prosecutor's Office and the observation mission of the OSCE/ODIHR with a request to consider the violations admitted by the Central Electoral Commission of Armenia during its sitting on February 24 dedicated to final totals of the presidential election. This information was provided to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Ruben Torosyan, coordinator of the monitoring group of Ter-Petrosyan's Election Office and election agent of the candidate.

According to Mr Torosyan, the CEC has roughly broken Point 2, Article 62, and Article 86 of the Electoral Code, when summed up the final totals of the election without considering and taking into account the complaints-applications lodged to the judicial bodies by the Election Office of Ter-Petrosyan, as these applications could have affected the totals.

We remind you that in the evening on February 24 the CEC of Armenia held its extraordinary sitting to sum up the final totals of the election. According to these final totals, Serzh Sarkisyan who has won 52.86 percent of votes was proclaimed to be the President of Armenia.

The first president of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan, who took the second place according to the final totals, has announced his intention to appeal against the election totals at the Constitutional Court.
