According to the information of the Election Office, activists of the opposition Musheg Sagatelyan and Vaagn Aiotsyan were tortured at the corrective establishment named "Vardashen".

Others were tortured at the Nubarashen SIZO: David Arakelyan, Hamlet Abramyan, David Ambartsumyan, Ashot Manukyan, Khachik Gasparyan, Andranik Avakyan, Ruben Voskanyan, Nver Sarkisyan and Aram Baregamyan, and a former policeman Khristofor Elazyan who had refused to give false testimonies against oppositionists.

Human rights activist Vardan Arutyunyan has stated that the situation with human rights and basic democratic freedoms in Armenia is experiencing the state of recourse.
