Kislovodsk residents boo their Mayor Vitaly Biryukov

It has become known today that Mayor of Kislovodsk Vitaly Biryukov was catcalled by his townspeople at celebrations on May 18 of the Kislovodsk City Day and the Day of the Stavropol Territory.

Gennady Popkov, Chairman of the Union of Pensioners of Kislovodsk, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent today that "in the evening, in the height of the holiday, Mayor Biryukov tottered to the microphone and, sweeping his foggy look over the crowd in the square, announced that he loved them all. He was responded by violent whistle and obscene yelps."According to Mr Popkov, the administration of the city "all of a sudden decided to hold on May 18 the Day of the City, the Day of the Stavropol Territory and the 205th Anniversary of Foundation of the region of the Caucasian Mineral Waters altogether", although the Municipal Duma had planned the Day of the City for September.

"They paralyzed all the traffic in the city, blocked the city centre near the Post Office, and installed an improvised stage, having invited singers and dancers. Residents, damning the city head, were forced to reach their homes, marketplace or work via the suburbs," Gennady Popkov said.

The "Caucasian Knot" has already informed that earlier the public of Kislovodsk had approved initiation on April 7 of a criminal case against V. Biryukov. The Mayor was charged of exceeding his official powers accomplished with causing heavy consequences.
