Armenian General Prosecutor's Office refused to recognize casualties of March 1 events in Yerevan to be victims
The official answer of the State Office of Public Prosecutor of Armenia to the request of the Chairman of the Helsinki Association of Armenia Mikael Danielyan of May 11 runs that none of the March 1 casualties has been qualified as a victim.
Mikael Danielyan has informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that it was difficult for him to comment the Office's response, since he could not imagine the situation when a person perished, and was not even recognized to be a victim.
"In my more than decade-long practice as human rights activist I never received this sort of response. It means that the authorities have no desire at all to reveal what really happened on March 1," said Danielyan.
He has also reported that together with some other human rights activists he had a meeting with George Colombier and John Prescott, co-rapporteurs of the PACE's monitoring mission, who arrived to collect data about Armenia's progress in fulfilling Resolutions No. 1609 of the PACE. At the meeting, Danielyan told the European guests that not a single point of the Resolution was fulfilled by the authorities, and the commission set up to investigate the events on March 1 is fictitious and would not be able to work unless entirely comprised of international experts.
