Over 20 persons killed by air attack on Georgian city of Gori

On August 9, at bombardment of the city of Gori, Georgia, by Russian aircrafts over 400 persons were wounded, more than 20 were lost, as reported by the administration of the Georgian city.

Kakha Toliashvili, head of the Gori administration office, has reported that 12 persons perished in one single multi-storey block of the city, and 9 persons - in another one. No exact death-rolls of Gori and neighbouring villages of Georgia are known yet, as plenty of bodies are still under ruins.

According to the information from the incident venue, bombs were dropped on the territory of the former cotton wool factory. However, the blows fell on the city's dwelling districts. The "Novaya Gazeta" special correspondent reports from Gori that all the 456 wounded persons who had suffered at the previous bombardment of Gori have been transferred from the local hospital to Tbilisi. Tonight the air attack was repeated, however, there are no victims, as all the local residents have managed to leave the city.

The "Kommersant" writes that when shelling Gori Russian pilots, while trying to destroy the military unit, dropped their bombs on apartment houses. An eyewitness told journalists that, for example, a married couple - a man of 28 years and his pregnant wife of 27 - fell victim of the air raid, as well as four women who stood at the doorway. Journalists later saw rubber slippers and a torn-off human arm near the house.

Part of the apartments of this block section have burnt out completely, most of the doors have been torn away from the hinges. From a balcony of one of the flats the military unit could be seen, which was the air strike target. Out of a dozen constructions of the unit, only one was damaged, since three out of four dropped bombs got onto apartment houses.
