Court in North Ossetia to consider moral compensation to Beslan terror act victims

On November 13, the Leninskiy District Court of North Ossetia will consider the suit of the All-Russian Public Organization "Voice of Beslan" against Russia's and Republic's Ministries of Internal Affairs on moral compensation to the victims of the terror act in September 2004.

Ella Kesaeva, leader of the "Voice of Beslan", reports that the trial will be chaired by Judge Panaiotidi, who last September passed an illegal, in her opinion, decision to transfer their organization to Marina Melikova, former member of the "Voice of Beslan".

"We're worried a lot, since it may be another judicial farce, like it was in the case with our organization. The Republic's courts would not consider this case," she said.

Today, the victims will send a petition to Chairpersons of the Supreme and Leninskiy Courts of North Ossetia demanding to replace the Judge.

"We don't trust Judge Panaiotidi, and we think that he won't be able to properly consider the case," Ms Kesaeva has added.

The victims of Beslan terror act submitted their application on moral compensation moral back on November 1, 2007. Since then, they have been awarded 15 judgements, but none was ever enforced.
