Georgia: additional Russian troops deployed in South Ossetia

Today, Georgian mass media have disseminated information that this week additional subdivisions of Russian troops entered the Akhalgori District of South Ossetia. The information was confirmed by Grigol Vashadze, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.

"These movements are temporary, and the troops will have to retreat to their territory. Russia will get nothing; it'll have to abandon not only the Akhalgori District, but also all the occupied territories," the "Gazeta.Ru" quotes the Georgian Minister as saying.

At the same time, the official spokesman of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation has stated that Russian troops did not undertake any actions to escalating their presence in the frontier areas of South Ossetia, including the Akhalgori District.

"All this is another provocation of Georgian authorities aimed to distract the country's population from the situation in Georgia as such," the "Interfax" quotes the source.

Officials of South Ossetia gave no comments on the point.
