In Armenia, 215 amnestied prisoners are at large

As of today, under the amnesty law adopted by the Parliament of Armenia on June 19, 215 persons have been released.

According to Gevork Danielyan, Minister of Justice of Armenia, the amnesty covers the persons, who had committed their crimes before July 1, 2009. The whole procedure will be over by September 30, 2009.

Mr Danielyan has reported that out of 4000 convicts, 2000 are covered by the amnesty, of them 500 will be released. "It's difficult to give a precise figure, as the convicts will now be checked against the requirements listed in the Law 'On Amnesty'," he said.
