Dagestan Prosecutor's Office scourges managers for using slave labour

13 directors of brick works in Dagestan are brought to administrative responsibility for using slave labour; materials on one of them were sent to the Investigatory Committee for opening a criminal case.

In the context of numerous signals about violations of labour rights at brick works, Igor Tkachov, Republic's Public Prosecutor, has visited, together with heads of some bodies of state control, the brick factories in question and revealed multiple violations of legislation.

"Managers of these factories employed persons who had no passports and no registration at their residence that is, illegal migrants. Wages were not timely paid out to them; they were forced to work overtime and on weekends and holidays. Sanitary-and-epidemiologic requirements were not observed in the places, where these workers lived, and in production premises," the Prosecutor's Office reports.

In total, 107 writs were lodged to the court on behalf of the workers on collection of wages and compensations for overtime work and work on weekends and holidays.
