MIA: three rebels liquidated, two militiamen wounded in skirmish near Makhachkala

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the MIA of Dagestan that in the course of the skirmish near Shamkhal-Termen village near Makhachkala, three IAF (illegal armed formation) members were killed today and two militiamen were wounded. One of the casualties was Imam of one of rural mosques.

Law enforcers possessed information about suspicious people travelling in a car. Two militia units were sent to check them.

When the militiamen approached the suspicious car, its passengers opened fire. In the course of the skirmish all the three in the car were killed, and two militiamen received gunshot wounds of their legs.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has learnt from a source in law enforcement bodies that one of suspected militants was identified as Zakaria Magomedov, Imam of one of Shamkhal mosques. According to law enforcers, this mosque is attended by adherents of Wahhabism.

According to the MIA of Dagestan, Zakaria Magomedov was in command of a group of militants involved in a series of attacks on employees of law enforcement bodies; he even made videos of some militiamen's murders.

The Ministry asserts that Magomedov was personally involved in the murder of an OMON fighter in Tyube village this June and the murder of two road inspectors not far from Shamkhal in July.

We remind you that today at night Gulyamkhed Khodzaev, head of the administration of Gedzhukh village, Derbent District, Dagestan, was killed in the yard of his house. In the opinion of militiamen, culprits could be waiting for Khodzhaev's son - a district militia officer.
