Declaration of monitoring group of human rights organizations

The monitoring group of human rights organizations declared its evaluation of the first stage of the election campaign in Azerbaijan. The human rights activists believe that numerous violations make the possibility of free and fair elections doubtful.

In this connection, the monitoring group requests that authorities and government-backed mass media should respect ethical norms and laws.

This declaration was signed by Arzu Abdullayeva, Novella Jafarova, Saida Gojmanly, Saadat Bananyarly, Sakhib Mamedov and Chingiz Ganizade.

  • After announcing a public event, court sends Ukrainian citizen to deportation centre

    Alexander Gongadze Volny Ross, a Ukrainian citizen, who has served his sentence for organizing a wheelchair run in the town of Kamyshin, will be deported from Russia. He and his wife were fined for violating migration laws; and their deportation is expected next week despite the possibility of persecution in their homeland due to their pro-Russian position.
