Chechen human rights activists as refugees' last hope

The refugees of the tent camp "Bart" situated in the city of Karabulak in the Nazran region of Ingushetia appealed to the Ingush office of the Society for the Russian-Chechen Friendship.

To Mr. Ezheev,
Regional Department Head of
the Society for the Russian-Chechen Friendship,
Moscow Helsinki Group Regional Coordinator.

Application.

We, the refugees of the tent camp "Bart" ("Avtodor") in the town of Karabulak, ask you to interfere and solve the problem of our further residence on the territory of "Avtodor" (the tent camp "Bart"). For two weeks the representatives of "Avtodor" have been visiting and threatening us. They demand that we should leave the territory. There are 225 of us there and we have nowhere to go, our houses in Chechnya are destroyed. We know that the authorities have issued a private edict of our eviction, but nobody cares about our safety and what we are going to live on. The tents we live in are all torn. There are some that have not been changed for these four years, but we ask for nothing more than just to be left alone.
