Public prosecutor requests over six years of imprisonment for Jehovah’s Witness* from Karachay-Cherkessia
A public prosecutor requested six and a half years of imprisonment for Aleksei Pasynkov, a Jehovah’s Witness* from Karachay-Cherkessia, in a case on organizing extremist activity. Criminal cases have also been instituted against a wife and a mother of Aleksei Pasynkov, the “OVD-Info”* human rights project reports.
On March 15, it became known that the police conducted a search in an apartment of Aleksei Pasynkov, a Jehovah’s Witness* from Karachay-Cherkessia. In August, law enforcers came to him again with a search within a criminal case instituted against his wife Yulia.
According to the investigators’ version, Aleksei Pasynkov “organized and maintained contacts with individuals professing the religion of Jehovah’s Witnesses*.”
Aleksei Pasynkov and his wife are raising a disabled son who is completely dependent on his parents. The child is now eight years old.
Let us remind you that the Aleksei Pasynkov’s apartment in Stavropol was already searched in November 2021. Searches were also conducted at his brothers’ houses in the village of Mednogorsky in Karachay-Cherkessia.
*All the 396 Russian organizations of Jehovah’s Witnesses were recognized as extremist, and their activities in Russia were banned by court decision.
