Over 200 violations revealed in children's summer camps of Volgograd Region

In the first two summer months, over two hundred violations of hygienic standards and fire prevention regulations have been revealed in children's summer camps of the Volgograd Region.

"In the majority of inspected establishments, we have revealed violations in organizing nutrition: failure to observe norms on main foodstuffs, underweight of finished meals, use of foodstuffs with expired shelf life," Marina Naiden, prosecutor of the division for supervision over enforcement of laws on minors and youth of the Prosecutor's Office of the Volgograd Region, gave her comments.

According to her story, the consequences of the failure of the cooks to observe hygienic norms and rules were several cases, in which coliform bacilli were detected, and of staphylococcus activator in the goulash cooked for teenagers at the children's health-improving camp "Leninets", located in the Mikhailov District of the Volgograd Region.

The inspections held by the Regional Prosecutor's Office have revealed that the most frequent in children's summer camps in the Volgograd Region are violations of hygienic requirements to preventive medical examinations and personal hygiene of the workers, norms of supplying equipment, prescribed number of medical premises, rooms for personnel, etc.

"Among widespread violations are failures to observe fire prevention rules," said Ms Naiden. "Rooms are not fully equipped with automatic fire signalling and primary means of fire extinguishing."

In total, by the results of prosecutors' inspections, in May-July 2009, more than 200 violations of the legislation were found, 120 presentations were made, on the results of considering which, 50 officials were brought to disciplinary responsibility.
