President of Ingushetia: corrupt official should have chance of correction

A year after the start of his presidency, the head of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov is still adhering to rather lenient punishments to his corrupt officials. However, according to his version, the courts are all the time trying to acquit those who should be really punished.

According to Mr Evkurov, when he was in resuscitation ward after the attempt on him on June 22, corrupt officials "were released in hundreds." He said that their criminal cases "were either closed, or ended in conditional terms or just funny fines."

However, the Ingush President still believes that in the issue of fighting against corruption one should not be "bloodthirsty". In his opinion, in relation of those, who have admitted their guilt and returned stolen money back to the budget, it is better not to initiate criminal cases. "It's enough to drop his position and give him a chance," the President said in his interview to the magazine "Profile".
