Investigators respond to complaint from Maria Smelaya, who fled from domestic violence

In Krasnodar, the police released after detention a husband of Maria Smelaya, a native of Chechnya. No child was accompanying him. The man is suspected of unsanctioned actions with the use of violence.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on May 9, the “Caucasus Without a Mother” human rights project reported that Maria Smelaya, who complained about violence from her husband, a native of Chechnya, stopped getting in touch with her relatives and friends after her husband kidnapped her and her child from a shelter.
