Novorossisk human rights activists hold a picket on International Black Sea Day

On October 31, human rights activists from Novorossisk held a picket dated to the Black Sea Day. The picket took place despite the ban of the city administration.

"On October 31, the International Black Sea Day, we managed to hold a picket 'Nuclear-Free Status - to the Black Sea!', which was under question because of the city administration," Vadim Karastelyov, expert of the Novorossisk Committee on Human Rights, told the "Caucasian Knot".

The organizers of the action wanted to draw attention of citizens to the problems of degraded ecological and social situation in the Black Sea basin and to legislatively prohibit any transportation of used nuclear fuel across the whole Sea.
