First picket in support of Major Dymovskiy held in Novorossisk
City of Novorossisk has hosted a picket in support of Militia Major Alexei Dymovskiy. This was reported to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Vadim Karastelyov, an expert of the Novorossisk Committee on Human Rights.
"On Saturday, November 14, the first picket in Alexei Dymovskiy's support took place in Novorossisk. Before the action, a militia major, whom I don't know, tried to detain me, as Dymovskiy's authorized representative, and deliver to the city UVD bosses. However, I flatly refused to go with him and went to take part in the picket," said Mr Karastelyov.
The picket of 8 persons strong was held inside a cordon of 30 militiamen and administration officials of Novorossisk.
"Several militiamen in civil clothes also came to the picket, but they didn't dare to join the action," Vadim Karastelyov has added.
He has explained that the main demand of the picket was cancellation of the order of Sergey Kucheruk, head of the GUVD of the Krasnodar Territory, of 7.11.09 to dismiss Dymovskiy under point "l", Article 19 of the "Law on Militia" of April 18, 1991, No. 1026-1, for: "committing an offence discrediting the honour of militiaman."
"We'll go on with the actions in support of Dymovskiy. Thus, an All-Russian action 'White tape - to citizens' honour and dignity!' is planned for November 28. There're already initiative groups planning to hold public actions in Moscow, St Petersburg, Nizhni Novgorod, Krasnodar and Novorossisk," Mr Karastelyov said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
Also, human rights activists plan to start placing short clips in the Internet, prepared by citizens and militiamen, briefly telling about law violations, which they have faced at law-enforcement bodies.
