Defendants in 2007 "Neva-Express" train explosion case to have their last plea on January 11

Today, upon the end of judicial pleadings in Novgorod at the trial on the first attack on the "Neva-Express" train in 2007, a break was announced till January 11, 2010, when the defendants will have their last plea.

Let us remind you that today the state accuser asked the court to sentence the figurants in the case Salambek Dzakhkiev to 13 years, and Maksharip Khidriev to 11 years of high security colony. He emphasized in his speech that the investigation had failed to establish the main figurants of the case - the organizers of the terror act. In the opinion of the prosecution, the two above defendants were just helpmates.

Murat Yunusov, Khidriev's advocate, petitioned for his client's acquittal, same as Natalia Teslenko, who defended Dzakhkiev. The defendants himself insisted on their innocence, as the "Gazeta.Ru" writes.

Both Murat Yunusov and Natalia Teslenko have stated alibi of their clients at the moment of incriminated offences, the "Regnum" Agency reports. According to the lawyers, in August 2007 Khidriev could not participate in preparing the terror act on the Octiabr Railways, as he was in the Republic of Ingushetia, and Dzakhkiev was at that time in the Samara Region.
